Eaton High School junior Jenelle Cumberland received the Betty Lynn Buckley Award on Thursday, May 23, for excellence in scenic design for her work on Eaton theatre department’s production of “Peter Pan.”

Forty-seven high schools from across north Texas competed in the overall competition, with the pool narrowing down to 15 nominated at this year’s awards. In her category, Jenelle competed against five top scenic designers in the region.

“We are very proud of all our Eaton Theatre nominees as well as the awesome showing by NISD high schools this year,” said Nick Kougias, director of Eaton’s theatre program. “Jenelle is an exceptional student and leader.
