Student Teacher Placement Request Procedures

  • Any university or alternative placement program interested in placing a student teacher with our district will need to contact Kristin Carter in Human Resources, via email, at:, or Missy Hutson at 
  • Students interested in placement within our district will need to ensure that their university emails the contact listed above - we do not make student teacher placements directly with students
  • All student teachers are required to complete our External Application  as quickly as possible. Students should not participate in the Ventures Style Profile Assessment until they have completed their student teaching experience.
    • Fall Semester placement deadline – August 1
    • Spring Semester placement deadline – December 1
  • The application is utilized to process the student teaching placement request
  • All placement requests are verified with the sponsoring University or Alternative Placement program listed on the application
  • Northwest ISD (NISD) student teacher placements are coordinated and approved through the Human Resources department; no other entity of the district is approved to negotiate placements
  • Requests are processed according to the date received and placements are limited  
  • Students must consent to a background check and achieve approved status    
  • Students must attend a mandatory orientation

Student Observer/Early Field Experience Procedures and Schedule

  • Our district accepts student observation placement requests during the following dates:

    • September through November, January through March

  • If you are interested in conducting student observations in our district, please follow the instructions below:

    • Register as a volunteer through our EZ Volunteer System
    • Allow 5-7 business days for the background check to be processed
    • If approved, your name will appear on the district approved volunteer list
    • Contact the campus by phone or email ONLY ask permission and to coordinate your observation schedule
    • All observers must respect all confidentiality rules and regulations and follow campus procedures
