2020-2021 Benefit Plan Changes

At the April 27, 2020 Board meeting, the following changes below to the employee benefit plans were approved.   To view detailed information about the premium cost, different benefits plans, and to complete the enrollment process select the Employee Benefits Center tile located on the NISD Portal.  Open enrollment will begin Monday, May 4, 2020 through Friday, June 12, 2020.

If you wish to make changes to your benefits you will need to complete the enrollment process by midnight on June 15, 2020.  If you do not to make any benefit changes during the open enrollment window, your benefits that were elected for the 2019-2020 plan year will roll into the 2020-2021 plan year except for flexible spending and dependent care. These plans require annual enrollment according to the Internal Revenue Service.  

If you need assistance with enrollment or have any questions, please contact the First Financial Enrollment representatives at 800-883-0007 Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST.  The Benefits and Risk Management Staff are working remotely, you may e-mail or call the district office, our office voice-mails are forwarded to our e-mail.  Be sure that you provide a call back number and the time you are available for a return call.  

  • Increase medical premiums on all three plans:
    • High Deductible Plan monthly premium increases range from $35.00 for employee only to $181.00 for employee and family
    • Basic Plan monthly premium increases range form $93.00 for employee only to $230.00 for employee and family
    • Core Plan monthly premium increases range from $137.00 for employee only to $342.00 for employee and family
  • Increase deductibles and maximum out-of-pocket on all three plans:

     

    • High Deductible Plan Deductible and maximum out-of-pocket
      • Increase deductible for individual from $2,500 to $3,500
      • Increase deductible for family from $5,000 to $7,000
      • Increase maximum out-of-pocket for individual from $7,000 to $8,000
      • Increase maximum out-of-pocket for family from $14,000 to $16,000
    • Basic Plan Deductible and maximum out-of-pocket
      • Increase deductible for individual from $1,100 to $2,000
      • Increase deductible for family from $2,200 to $4,000
      • Increase maximum out-of-pocket for individual from $7,000 to $8,000
      • Increase maximum out-of-pocket for family from $14,000 to $16,000
    • Core Plan Deductible and maximum out-of-pocket
      • Increase deductible for individual from $750 to $1,250
      • Increase deductible for family from $1,500 to $2,500
      • Increase maximum out-of-pocket for individual from $7,000 to $8,000
      • Increase maximum out-of-pocket for family from $14,000 to $16,000

         

  • Prescription Plan
    • Change provider from Maxor to PCA RX
    • Increase Specialty prescriptions from a $250-co-pay per prescription 30% or a maximum of $1,500 per prescription
    • Maintain $250 deductible per individual
    • Combine maximum out-of-pocket for prescriptions with the maximum out-of-pocket for medical
    • New medical cards will be mailed mid-August to all medical plan participants

       

  • Dental Plan
    • Change provider from Ameritas to Cigna
    • Decrease premiums for all three plans
      • High Deductible Plan monthly premium reductions range form $6.31 for employee only to $16.05 for employee and family
      • Low Plan monthly premium reductions range from $3.04 for employee only to $7.21 for employee and family
      • Alternative Choice monthly premium reductions range from $2.39 for employee only to $6.21 for employee and family
    • New dental cards will be mailed mid-August to participants

       

  • Other supplemental plan changes
    • Change supplemental accident provider from Allstate to American Fidelity
    • All current enrollees will be moved to the new plan
    • Change supplemental cancer provider from Allstate to Guardian
    • All current enrollees will be moved to the new plan
