Three Byron Nelson High School students and a Steele Accelerated High School student earned the National Technical Honor Society’s Jon H. Poteat scholarship, placing them among just 25 Texas students to earn the honor.

Byron Nelson’s Lauren Atkinson, Tanya Baiju and Nichole Bugner earned the scholarship, as did Steele’s Katelynn Steinhauser. The Byron Nelson trio are advised in career and technical programs by Monica Valenta, while Steele’s awardee is advised by Patti Hayes.

The scholarship is annually awarded to National Technical Honor Society members who plan to choose a skilled trade as their careers as well as their participation in career and technical programs. This year’s Jon H. Poteat scholarship was awarded to just 225 students across the United States.
