Northwest ISD’s three comprehensive high schools each earned at least one award at two recent fine arts competitions, the Betty Lynn Buckley Awards and Dallas Summer Musicals High School Musical Theatre Awards.

At the Buckley Awards, Eaton and Northwest each earned honors. Eaton won two acting awards for its “My Fair Lady” performance: Vincent Harrill was named best male actor in a musical, while Lane Norris earned best male supporting actor in a musical. Northwest added to the district’s acting honors with Naomi Calloway’s win as best female actor in a play for her work in “Peter and the Starcatcher.”

At the Dallas Summer Musicals awards, Byron Nelson earned two awards and an honorable mention. For their performance of “The Addams Family,” directors John Sikon and Katherine Engle won the best musical direction award. Byron Nelson student Zachary Garcia won the best supporting actor award in the competition. Additionally, student Jesse Hammer earned an honorable mention in the featured actor category.
