The Texas School Safety Center, housed at Texas State University, has recognized that Northwest ISD fulfilled all safety and security requirements of the Texas Education Code, as the center is appointed by law to analyze for all state school districts.

Northwest ISD was found to be in accordance with Chapter 37.108 of the Texas Education Code, which requires districts to conduct a safety and security audit of their district facilities. As part of the audit, all facilities must be inspected, and each school district must maintain a safety and security committee. Districts must also adopt multi-hazard emergency operation plans; if any school is located within 1,000 yards of a railroad track, a district must also have procedures for responding to a train derailment in those plans.

TxSSC determined, based on information from the 2014-17 audit cycle, that Northwest ISD fulfilled all safety and security requirements in Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code.
