January serves as School Board Recognition Month, and Northwest ISD would like to take this opportunity to thank our trustees for their service and support for our students, community and staff.

The Northwest ISD Board of Trustees (or school board for short) is composed of elected members of our community who provide their time to help steer our district and ensure prosperity for students. They are elected to unpaid positions and regularly spend time at school and district events to support students and staff. Their main role is providing input, guidance, and voting on district operations and initiatives during board meetings.

Northwest ISD's school board consists of Judy Copp (president); Anne Davis-Simpson, Ph.D. (vice president); Lillian Rauch, Ph.D. (secretary); Ron Hastings; DeAnne Hatfield; Mark Schluter; and Steve Sprowls. They can be seen above with district leaders honoring a Northwest High School student who entered the military and received his diploma after completing his service.

The district will formally recognize the trustees at their next school board meeting, which takes place Thursday, Jan. 30.
