The Texas School Counseling Association has named Byron Nelson and Eaton high schools and Nance Elementary School as recipients of its CREST award, marking the third consecutive year multiple Northwest ISD schools have earned the state’s top counseling honor.

Each year, the TSCA selects school counseling departments to receive the Counselors Reinforcing Excellence in Texas distinction based on applications judged by a committee of professional experts. Applications are primary rated based on seven categories: principal’s comments, school counseling advisory council, school climate and safety, student results, major achievements, community partnerships, and parent collaboration.

The TSCA created the award to recognize counseling staffs that demonstrate continuous improvement through effective communication and a commitment to obtaining results.

This year’s award marks the third consecutive year that Byron Nelson has received the CREST award. This is also the second consecutive year that three Northwest ISD schools have received CREST awards.

Because of their win, the TSCA will recognize the three schools alongside their winning peers from across the state at the association’s annual conference on Sunday, Feb. 18, in Galveston.
