Byron Nelson High School theatre director Wendy Bramlett won a top award at the recent Dallas Summer Musicals High School Musical Theatre Awards, walking away with best direction honors.

Ms. Bramlett won best direction for her guidance of the school’s “Thoroughly Modern Millie” interpretation. She was nominated against a strong field of 11 area school directors. Ms. Bramlett was assisted in her direction by fine arts colleagues John Sikon (musical direction), Katherine Engle (vocal direction), Vincent Donato (choreography and assistant direction) and James Hammer (technical direction).

“Thoroughly Modern Millie” wrapped its school run in January; Byron Nelson has since performed the musical at various awards ceremonies.

Byron Nelson students earned a wide array of accolades at the High School Musical Theatre Awards ceremony, as the school was nominated in 13 categories. The Bobcat theatre department is also nominated for seven awards at another area competition, the Betty Lynn Buckley Awards, which will reveal winners next week.
