Three Byron Nelson High School students received top honors at a recent national leadership conference in Atlanta, notching a top-five finish at a meeting that drew more than 12,500 students from across the U.S.

Byron Nelson students Sevine Dandan, Scott Hoppes and Luke Livingston placed fourth in the management decision making competition at the Future Business Leaders of America’s National Leadership Conference in Atlanta from June 29 to July 2. The management decision making competition event requires students demonstrate skills in strategic management, marketing and business operations. A major aspect of the competition is showcasing an ability to think quickly to make executive-level business decisions while also analyzing consequences of any choices.

Nine states and one Canadian territory were represented in the event, with Byron Nelson High School serving as the only Texas high school taking part in the competition, though a virtual FBLA chapter also represented the state.

Sevine, Scott and Luke’s national success follows a first-place finish in the same event at the state FBLA competition in March.

Byron Nelson’s management decision making team is led by faculty advisor April Allison, a career and technology teacher at the school.
