Byron Nelson High School delegates take part in the recent SASC conference

Byron Nelson High School’s Student Council members earned accolades at the recent annual conference for the Southern Association of Student Councils, with one student earning first-place honors in a public speaking contest.

The conference included more than 1,000 students from 12 states taking part in leadership training, idea sharing, service learning, networking and other tasks. Byron Nelson took seven deletes to the Ocoee, Florida, conference.

Senior Kwame Ambaah earned first place in the event’s public speaking contest, which was judged by a panel of student council advisors and then performed in front of an audience of roughly 1,200 students and advisors.

Byron Nelson’s Student Council is overseen by faculty advisor Tammy McClure.
