Construction along State Highway 114 and F.M. 156 will slow traffic near Northwest ISD’s central complex – including Northwest High School, Pike Middle School, Hatfield Elementary and Love Elementary – for roughly two weeks as crews work to begin expansion of roads.

Beginning Monday, Feb. 6, and lasting through Thursday, Feb. 9, alternating lane closures will take place along S.H. 114, limiting traffic to one lane for brief periods as flag crews direct drivers. Flag crews will be in place for these closures from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily; before and after these times, traffic will proceed as normal.

On Friday, beginning at 7 p.m., crews will set up to demolish the old railroad bridge over S.H. 114. During this time, detours will begin to direct drivers to alternate routes, as the portion of S.H. 114 beneath the bridge – also beneath the F.M. 156 bridge – will be inaccessible beginning at 9 p.m. Construction crews expect demolition and road closure to complete before 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13.

These lane closures and demolition of the old railroad bridge mark the beginning of the roadway expansions of both S.H. 114 and F.M. 156, which are expected to last into late 2018 or early 2019.

Please note that controlled fires may take place near these roads in the near future for construction purposes. Crews are continuing to clear brush, so some fire and smoke may be seen near the central complex – in view of the Northwest High School track, practice fields and tennis courts. These small fires will be contained by trained professionals.
