The installation of a temporary traffic light at Northwest High School has been delayed by state construction crews, with the new installation date expected to begin in April.

Installation of a traffic light at Texan Drive and F.M. 156 was delayed as a result of utility adjustments, but crews now expect to begin the installation process in early April. As part of the timeline, CoServ will begin moving utility lines on or around Monday, April 3, and expects to complete the movement of utility lines by Friday, April 14. After the completion of the utility line move, construction and installation of the traffic light itself can begin.

The timeline is subject to weather and other possible delays. Though the traffic light being installed is temporary, it is planned to be replaced by a permanent traffic light in the future.

As a reminder, Northwest ISD cannot directly answer any questions regarding the progress of the new traffic light – it can only pass on information provided by the appropriate governing entity. Roadways are managed by state and local government bodies, with traffic enforcement handled by local and state police forces. Independent school districts have no control over roadways off campus property.
