Cox Elementary School physical education teacher Stacie Breckley has earned one of her state association’s grants, joining an elite company of just 35 educators in Texas.

Mrs. Breckley earned the Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance – or TAHPERD – grant for her work coordinating a Jump Rope for Heart event, teaching students about the importance of heart health. For her work, Mrs. Breckley was selected from more than 2,800 teachers who completed a similar event and earned one of TAHPERD’s 35 grants.

As part of the grant, Mrs. Breckley will receive professional support from TAHPERD in her education endeavors. She will be honored at TAHPERD’s annual convention in Fort Worth on Thursday, Nov. 30, and Friday, Dec. 1. She will again be recognized at the association’s summer conference on July 16.
