District communications team earns eight awards from professional association

Northwest ISD’s communications and community relations department earned eight awards from the Texas School Public Relations Association, its state professional organization, at a recent conference.

The team earned three gold awards, two silver award and three bronze awards.

Rachel Bobbitt and Anthony Tosie, communications specialists for the department, earned gold medals across three categories. Mrs. Bobbitt won her award in the video promotion and marketing category for her 2017 bond video. Mr. Tosie won gold awards in the digital external newsletter category for Northwest News and in the writing category for a story about Shears of Steele.

Melissa Shawn, communications specialist, earned a silver in the website category for the Northwest ISD website, located at www.nisdtx.org. Mrs. Bobbitt and Emily Conklin, executive director of communications and community relations, earned a silver in the printed external newsletter category for the Northwest Vision.

Mrs. Bobbitt and Mrs. Conklin earned a bronze award in the annual report category for Northwest ISD’s annual report. Mrs. Bobbitt added another bronze award in the video feature story category for her “On the Grow” video of Adams Middle School. Finally, the communications department submitted the finance department’s 2017-18 Adopted Budget in the booklet category, earning a bronze.

Northwest ISD’s communications team competed against professionals from other districts with enrollments of 10,000 to 30,000 students to earn its awards.
