Northwest ISD has announced Eric Drewery, Ed.D., will become the district’s new director of human resources, moving from his current role as principal of Medlin Middle School.

“I’m thrilled Dr. Drewery is joining the administrative services team,” said Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services Kim Caley, Ed.D. “He has served students and staff in our school district for almost 10 years. He has a deep understanding of our community as well as the needs for staffing, retention and recruitment for our fast-growth school district.”

Dr. Drewery has worked in Northwest ISD since 2008, when he started his time with the district as an assistant principal at Medlin Middle School before becoming its principal in 2012. Prior to his career in Northwest ISD, Dr. Drewery worked in Katy ISD as a special education teacher and student support specialist. He has also previously worked for Stafford Municipal School District, Hope Center Alternative School and Harris County Community Mental Health Centers.

“I am excited to serve the district in this capacity,” said Dr. Drewery. “I have enjoyed the nine years I have spent as an administrator at Medlin Middle School, and I will miss the community, staff and students. I am looking forward to building new relationships and collaborating with staff across Northwest ISD in this new role.”

Dr. Drewery has a doctorate in educational leadership from NOVA Southeastern University, a master’s degree in social work from The University of Texas at Arlington, a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Texas at Austin. Additionally, he has completed his superintendent certification from Dallas Baptist University. He has presented at numerous conferences across the state on a variety of topics, such as ePortfolio development for students, and served on the Texas Visioning leadership and community development team. In 2015, he was named the Region XI Middle School Principal of the Year.

In his new position, Dr. Drewery will assist in directing, coordinating and managing recruitment, staffing and compensation. Dr. Drewery will finish the year as principal of Medlin Middle School and will begin transitioning into his new role this summer. The school district will begin the search process to find the next principal for Medlin Middle School this summer.
