Eaton and Northwest high schools’ one-act play companies have both advanced to the University Interscholastic League’s area round of competition after qualifying through the bi-district level, putting the programs two steps away from the state contest.

Competing at Grayson College in their bi-district meet, the Eaton company advanced with its performance of “The Diviners.” Northwest advanced from the same meet with its performance of “Act One.” The two Northwest ISD programs will next perform at the UIL 5A Area 2 meet on Friday, March 31. That meet will take place at Flower Mound High School, located at 3411 Peters Colony Road in Flower Mound.

Both programs were well represented in the bi-district meet’s honors. From Eaton, Cassie Weaver earned the Best Actress award, Vincent Harrill II and Garrett Hale were named to the All-Star Cast, and Ethan Inthisone earned the Outstanding Technician award. From Northwest, Chris Skipper and Cayden Candioto earned All-Star Cast honors with Madison Dixon earning an honorable mention, and Abigail Schraub earned the Outstanding Technician award.

Advancing companies from the 5A Area 2 meet next perform in the 5A Region I meet on Wednesday, April 5, at Texas Tech University. Finally, the state meet for 5A companies will take place Thursday, April 13, at the Round Rock ISD Performing Arts Center. Critiques of the 5A state performances will take place the following day.
