Congratulations to Northwest High School's boys basketball team for advancing to the UIL 5A State Championship game! The Texans won their state semifinal against San Antonio Alamo Heights 65-54 yesterday, sending them to Saturday's state final against Port Arthur Memorial.

The UIL 5A Boys Basketball State Championship game will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, located at 100 Montana St. Tickets for the game are available at the venue for $19, and all children ages 2 and younger receive free admission.

For those who can't attend the game in person, it will be streamed online through  the pay-subscription service  www.nfhsnetwork.com. Official game updates are also provided quarterly through the UIL's Twitter account (Twitter users can also subscribe to the district's athletics list, where several accounts will tweet updates). The game is not televised.

Recaps of the Texans' victory yesterday can be found on the Wise County MessengerFort Worth Star-Telegram and Dallas Morning News. Notably, Saturday's game will mark the first time a Northwest ISD basketball team has played for a UIL state title.
