Northwest ISD trustees signed a resolution at their most recent board meeting on Monday, Nov. 13, encouraging area residents to take part in local, state and federal elections.

Trustees approved the resolution, part of the Texas Association of School Boards Culture of Voting initiative, to set a positive example for students that their ballots matter in elections, regardless of the type of election. Northwest ISD spans three counties – Denton, Tarrant and Wise – meaning there will likely be an election within its boundaries almost every scheduled fall and spring Election Day.

Voter turnout across the United States is typically low, and setting a positive example for current students can encourage them to share their voice in future elections.

Potential voters can obtain registration materials and resources at www.votetexas.gov, and current voters can use the website to gather materials to update their registrations.
