Northwest ISD’s three comprehensive high schools – Byron Nelson, Eaton and Northwest – each celebrated multiple student-athletes signing letters of intent to play collegiate sports on Wednesday, Feb. 6, with 17 students heading to the next athletic level.

In its first year with a senior class, Eaton High School led the way with eight student-athletes signing letters of intent. Football was represented by four signees: Jacob Keller and Nicholas Lanum with Texas Wesleyan University, Jakob Rowland with Navarro Junior College, and Boomer Warren with Hardin Simmons University. The girls soccer team was represented by Kayla Davis, who signed with Southern Nazarene University, and Madelyn Rea, who signed with East Texas Baptist University. Softball and volleyball each had one student-athlete sign a letter of intent; from softball, Paige Tamayo signed with McNeese State University, and volleyball’s Alyssa Jolly signed with Millsaps College.

From Byron Nelson High School, six student-athletes signed letters of intent. In girls soccer, Lexi Burke signed with Angelo State University, Madeleine Harper signed with Texas Woman’s University and Jesyca Lopez signed with Washburn University. From the baseball team, Zack Brizendine signed with the University of the Ozarks, and Drew Ellis signed with Oklahoma Christian University. Jaired Chamberlain signed to play football with Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Northwest High School was represented by three student-athlete signees, each signing to play football. Prince Mavula and Leo Saldana signed with Midwestern State University, while Josh Campbell signed with West Texas A&M University. The three will meet each other in future games, as both schools play in the Lone Star Conference.

The 17 students in the spring signing class combines with 13 Northwest ISD students who signed letters of intent earlier in the year for 30 student-athletes who plan to take part in collegiate sports after graduating.
