Northwest ISD's three comprehensive high schools - Byron Nelson, Eaton and Northwest - will each host a registration event soon to assist those who need help enrolling their children for the 2017-18 school year.

The registration days, sponsored by the Northwest ISD Council of PTAs, are open to assist families of both new and returning students. Families of new students are strongly encouraged to attend one of these events. Additionally, the events are open to all grade levels. The parent or guardian of an elementary or middle school student, for instance, should attend the registration event of the high school that child is zoned for. Steele Accelerated High School families are welcome to any registration event.

Parents and guardians of all returning Northwest ISD students were emailed codes to enroll their children for the 2017-18 school year. These emails allow parents and guardians to click a link to re-enroll their children in PowerSchool, the district's new enrollment service. Most information will already be filled out based on previously submitted enrollment forms, but families can verify and update any information that needs changing. Families who do not receive an email to their inbox should check their junk email folders or any other email accounts they may have on file at the school.

Beginning this year, returning families must provide a proof of residency during enrollment. For returning families, this proof of residency can be submitted online as part of the PowerSchool enrollment process. Both new and returning families can also submit proof of residency at summer registration events. Examples of accepted proof of residency documents include a current utility bill (not a phone bill), lease or closing papers (for 30 days until a utility bill is available). If living with a friend or relative within Northwest ISD, an affidavit must be completed, notarized and provided to the school's front office along with a current utility bill.

Those who prefer to provide proof of residency at their children's schools can do so from 8 a.m. to noon or 1 to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday.

Online enrollment should be completed no later than Tuesday, Aug. 22, to ensure all information has been processed and schedules can be completed by the first day of school. Northwest ISD's 2017-18 school year begins Monday, Aug. 28.

For more information about online enrollment, visit www.nisdtx.org/registration. The district's enrollment help line can be reached by phone at 817-698-1099. PowerSchool support can be reached at 866-752-6850. Campuses can be contacted directly for assistance as well, though they can not assist with questions regarding missing enrollment codes, which should be directed to the district support line. Expect additional back-to-school information from both the district and individual schools to be released over the next two weeks.
