Four Northwest ISD schools will serve as hosts to vaccination clinics prior to the start of the school year, allowing parents and guardians to meet some back-to-school immunization requirements.

North Texas Flu Shots and Passport Health will host the clinics, which will accept payment from Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicaid and United HealthCare. PPO plans will be accepted, though the services are unable to accept HMO plans. Some plans may not be covered, including Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield gold, silver or bronze plans. Attendees should bring a photocopy of their insurance cards and the driver’s license of the primary insured party.

Northwest ISD host locations and times are as follows:

  • Eaton High School: 8 to 10 a.m. July 31
  • Northwest High School: 8 to 10 a.m. Aug. 2
  • Byron Nelson High School: 3 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 11
  • Hatfield Elementary School: 2 to 6 p.m. Aug. 23

A parent or guardian must accompany any child receiving a shot, and the child’s current shot record is required.

Children who are 18 and younger who don’t have any insurance can receive shots for $10 per vaccines, with a $40 maximum. For those who have insurance plans that do not cover vaccines, shots will be available by cash or check (receipts will be provided for submission to insurance companies). The following vaccines will be available: chicken pox ($11), DTaP ($50), Gardasil ($190), hepatitis A ($50), hepatitis B ($50), Hib ($50), meningococcal ($125), MMR ($80), pneumonia ($200), polio ($60) and Tdap ($70).
