Thanks for a great start to the 2021-2022 school year! Nearly 27,000 students showed up excited for the new school year, and even more will join us in the next few weeks.

Check out some of the great first-day interactions in our Flickr gallery of photos from several schools across our district! And welcome to our Berkshire Bears at Northwest ISD’s newest campus, marking the opening our 20th elementary school.

As with the start of all school years in our fast-growth district, transportation was a challenge that will improve in the coming days. This year, more than 3,400 new bus riders joined already-completed bus routes in the few days since route information was emailed to families. With this challenge in mind, the district transportation department is in the process of adding these students and more to the existing routes and rerouting when needed. As with previous school years, this work will continue for the first week or two of school.

Route information will continue to be added to the district’s online route system, the MyView tracking app (available on the iOS App Store and Google Play), and in the Home Access Center. Thank you for your understanding as our transportation staff work diligently to meet the needs of all families.

Additionally, please remember that traffic around campuses is heavier the first week of school because more families choose to drop their children off and say goodbye. Traffic flow will improve, while school and district staff will also monitor for any areas that can be further improved with tweaks to drop-off and pick-up procedures.

We look forward to continuing a great school year with you and your family! Be sure to stay tuned to your email inbox for updates from your campus, and check out upcoming athletic and fine arts events to support our students!
