Northwest ISD has submitted its high school enrollment numbers to the University Interscholastic League as part of the UIL’s “snapshot” process. With figures from schools across the state, the UIL will now prepare to align schools into extracurricular competition districts.

Eaton High School currently has Northwest ISD’s largest enrollment at 2,988 students. Byron Nelson High School follows with 2,735. Northwest High School submitted an enrollment of 2,176. Steele Early College High School submitted an enrollment of 236. All the enrollment amounts represent an increase from the schools’ totals submitted in 2020 for the current UIL alignment, which has been in place for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years.

The UIL will now take all snapshot figures from schools across the state to announce new extracurricular district alignments on February 1, 2022. The new athletic districts will be in place for two school years, 2022-2023 and 2023-2024. UIL classification enrollment ranges will also be revised at the same time. Current UIL classifications by student enrollment can be viewed at this link.

Given current classification enrollment ranges and the district’s submitted enrollment figures, Northwest ISD’s comprehensive high schools will likely remain in their current UIL classifications – Byron Nelson and Eaton in 6A, and Northwest in 5A.
