Congratulations to the three Northwest ISD alumni who qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials this year. We are proud to have these athletes represent the district in high jump, swimming, and discus!

Sanaä Barnes - High Jump

Sanaä Barnes, a 2018 Byron Nelson High School multi-sport graduate, made her Olympic trial debut while placing 11th in the high jump finals at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Team Trials at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon last week. Barnes improved her previous lifetime best jump by two centimeters and broke her own former Villanova school record by three centimeters on the first night of the trials when she cleared 1.87 meters to secure a spot in the high jump finals.

Adam Koster - Swimming

Adam Koster, a four-year varsity letter winner and 2016 graduate of Byron Nelson High School, competed in Wave II of the U.S. Olympic Swimming Team Trials in Omaha, Nebraska on June 19. Koster entered heat 6 of 9 in the men's 50m freestyle trials with a qualifying time of 22.63 and finished tied for 46th place with a final time of 22.98.


Duke Kicinski - Discus

And best of luck to 2014 Northwest High School graduate and multi-sport athlete Duke Kicinski—the 2019 NCAA Champion discus thrower at Texas Tech—who will compete tonight at 7:05 p.m. in the U.S. Olympic Track and Field discuss qualifying trials. If Kicinski qualifies, he will compete Friday afternoon in the discus Olympic trial finals.
