Thanks to a new series of scholarship opportunities funded by the Ross Perot, Jr. Foundation, students enrolled in Northwest ISD’s Aviation and Aeronautics Academy may be one step closer to achieving their career goals.

The Perot Scholarship six individual scholarships totaling $50,000 will be awarded over the next three years to students interested in becoming a professional pilot or aviation technician.  Current tenth grade students enrolled in the academy may apply for a full scholarship in the Aviation Mechanics or Aviation Pilot pathway.

“This scholarship program reflects North Texas’ strong aviation heritage,” Perot said.  “It will help feed the future skilled labor needs of aviation partners throughout the region, while helping students explore the industry and pursue their passions.”

In partnership with Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association (AOPA), members will administer the scholarship program by collecting and reviewing application submissions on behalf of aviation academy students.

“Our mission at AOPA is to ensure that we set a clear path for future generations of aviators,” said AOPA President Mark Baker. “Our work with Ross Perot Jr. and the Aviation and Aeronautics Academy at Northwest ISD brings that vision to life in a very rewarding way.”
